Provisional Psychologist Program
In 2018 Evergreen Psychology began a Provisional Psychologist Program to develop the skills of our student psychologists and to provide services to clients who would not otherwise be able to afford psychology treatment. The program offers no-cost counselling to eligible clients, delivered by one of our provisional psychologists.
A provisional psychologist is a student who has completed his or her university qualifications in Psychology and is undertaking an internship year under the supervision of one of Evergreen’s registered psychologists. Evergreen’s provisional psychologists are registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and bound by the same code of ethics as fully registered psychologists.
To be eligible for this free service a client must be:
- Unable to otherwise afford the cost of seeing a psychologist at Evergreen;
- Referred to Evergreen by their GP, who must be one of our existing referrers;
- Not be diagnosed with a psychotic disorder or personality disorder.
Please note: While a referral from a GP is required for a client to be eligible for the Provisional Psychologist Program, a Mental Health Treatment Plan is not required. This is not a bulk billing service, it is completely cost free.
